Last of Exotic Archives

left overs of far off lands and peoples

The Last of Exotic Archives is a photographic archive of human life on earth. It covers all five continents, as well as an additional sixth named: Atlantis.

I was founded by Cyril Elijah Jones, an english stage actor, photographer and hobby anthropologist (Aberysthwith, Wales 1939). Jones believes that through cultural customs and traditions the essence of life is revealed, and he understands the task of his life, to be the collector of all those astonishing details. To this day he travels and documents human life forms on earth, by taking portraits and gathering detailed information about the individuals he meets in his meticulously kept travel journals

    * “longing”, “yearning”, “craving” or “intensely missing” are paraphrases for the term Saudade and Sehnsucht but a direct english translation does not exist.
